Swim Test

Our swim test is to ensure the safety of our swimmers by observing their ability to swim and self-rescue. Each swimmer must take the swim test at least once, and may be asked to test again depending on pool staff and perceived ability. Swim tests are administered by a lifeguard. Any child who does not complete a swim test must be accompanied by an adult whom is in the water and within arm’s reach at all times.

The swim test criteria includes:

Swim continuous 25 yards without touching the bottom, a wall, a lane divider, or holding onto anything. With no flotation aid.

Swimmers must also be able to tread water for 60 seconds while keeping their ears out of the water and not submerging.

A swimmer’s ability to pass the swim test is at the lifeguard’s discretion. If the pool is busy the lifeguard can deny administering a swim test for safety reasons.
